Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The fires are annoying, at least this one isn't Here. As for nearly burning the town down, there were 3 in the last 2 years but before that IIRC the last one was the painted cave fire nearly 20 years ago.
Hah, yeah, that bike he was trying was the exact bike they wanted to sell me.

Got a black/white 2010 Allez Elite in NY for 1150.00 (before tax) about two weeks ago with
all factory components.
https://bicyclehabitat.com/itemdetails.cfm?libid=57586
Saw it in another NY LBS for $1299. MSRP is not published yet and stores are free to
charge any price.

It's going to be the same price as the 2009 Allez Sport (same bike) if not more. $1150 is a good price for it. Unfortunately here in Southern California people have money so they jack up the prices on everything.

It's a nice bike huh. I was getting looks and compliments in the grocery store and the apple store when I was buying stuff. I added a Cat Eye Astrale 8 computer too.

It's gotta be the white grip tape.

My friend really wants to get this bike or the CAAD9. He sort so likes the LBS who sells Specialized. Are they comparable frames -- operative word frames. If you do not have to factor in the C'dale aluminum racing legacy it would be nice.

Is there going to be a higher level than the elite or did they just do away with the E5 aluminum frame?

I understand the sloping top tube. My Allez has that. My question refers to the curve - the arc, like someone else said. Is there a purpose, or is it just for looks?

At that point it's really personal preference - they have similar components.

He should go with the LBS he likes most.
