Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Calling all weather nuts..

I always check the weather forecast before heading out and if you haven't stumbled on https://www.wunderground.com it's a brilliant weather site and believe it's far superior to weather.com or anything else I've found.

What's your favorite weather site?

Best,
B

Well, I've been using weather.com without much complaint.

But I'll give that link of yours a try. Thanks.

You're right. That's good.

Includes info that a bicyclist is likely to want without a lot of digging.

wunderground rocks...I've paid the 10 bucks for better radar for several years now. Best weather on the 'net, bar none.

Comcast Cable in Boston, channel 245, has continuous Doppler over my routes, and within a minute or so, give the current conditions, especially wind speed and direction, through to five day forecasts. Plus I don't have to log on, just turn on the TV.

I typically use NOAA, but I do like the better zoom capabilities of wunderground's radar.

I use intellicast.com and have been very happy with it. Don't have to pay for anything.

Guys, no matter what you get, forcast are always wrong, sometimes they are right, but you have to understand they use supercomputers, sure they are the best that CPUs have to offer, but it always has the percentage of being wrong. I see that many times lately the forcast were way off. I think the best way to predict the weather is to look outside, if its dark and gloomy its a good thing to stay home, if its bright and sunny, ride your bike to shreds. Just my .02 cents.

p.s. I use, weather.com but I will give the o.p.'s website a shot.

you guys actually believe weather forecasts? the best weather forecast is to stick your head out of the window. or maybe do some kind of voodoo ritual.

When I stick my head out the window I can't see as far or in as many directions as the radar can. It REALLY helps knowing if the 20 minute commute will be wet or not.

Wunderground has a nice layout but usually has the same forecast as accuweather and weather.com. I like NOAA but they're all completely unreliable. Imposing clouds = rain gear in my pockets no matter what the forecast says.

I like being able to click on the "scientific discussion" link at wunderground, a discussion I can sometimes understand.

I've been using wunderground for years. The "stick your head out the window" stuff is silly. With wunderground I can see the (close to) real time track of storm cells and fit rides into the appropriate time and direction windows. It's very cool watching the change in temps in front of and behind moving fronts. Lots more great info easily accessed.
