Installing drop handlebars
 

My main road bike is a cannondale super-six Himod 3, and i dont feel cofmtorable haviing that at college, so im bringing my dads specialized sirrus, which has flat handlebars. I was currious if I could eaisly put a drop handlebar on it with something like this.

would that work for the brakes and gears, would something like that even work?

Bring your nice bike, keep it inside. I'm guessing you'll be in a dorm? There will likely be some BS about not keeping bikes inside. Ignore this BS. If someone gives you crap about it, ask them why the policy exists. If they don't know, ask them to find out. Then fight it. Likely they will tell you it's because of fire safety. This is BS. Call your fire chief, they don't care as long as it isn't in front of the door.

I thought about that, but I will be riding to some classes, and i dont want to have to deal with taking the wheels off and biteing my nails thinking it will get stolen,.,

Take both bikes. I had two bikes in my dorm room last year. Ride your nice one for training/racing (join your collegiate team, collegiate racing is freaking awesome), and ride the beater to class. You could also just lock the old one up outside, but I'd keep them both inside, they just last longer that way.

it's cheaper and simpler to just buy a $100 lugged steel bike and fix it up than to change from flatbars to dropbars.

I converted my sirrus to a drop bar set up. It required a little item called travel agents to accomodate the v brakes and the brake/shifter levers. Not as big a deal as some would say.

It shouldn't be an issue to mount drops. I'd say just have a wrench you trust mount and adjust the shifter/levers for you. It'll save time and assure that they're done right. Unless of course your proficient.

Granted this isn't in the range of your Super-Six, but do you feel comfortable leaving your dad's Sirrus hanging out around campus? Bike thieves don't really discriminate. Especially with the addition of some nice shifter/levers.

Either one will get stolen, vandelized, or broken. So figure out which one you want that to happen to...
