Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New Delta 7 bike

All I could say when I saw a pic of this frame was WOW!

It is beautiful, and highly unusual.

Limited production, lifetime warrantee, and supposedly as stiff as and a strondger BB than any bike in its class.

They are taking $1000 depsits. No word on price of this frame.

Delta 7 Sports

A mountain version will also be available.

Saw this in my "Outside" magazine I some how got a subscription to at work. $6,000 (not sure if that's just the frame or what). Outside is a pretty stupid magazine (there cover this week has a dude in jeans, athletic jacket, & blazor, with goggles on his forehead, coming out of the ocean carrying a fancy tri-bike???? huh?

Anyways, their blip on this thing, "The company is using the technology in high-end performance bikes first, with plans to apply it to the auto and aerospace industries next."

*shrug*

whatever.

lol... just saw it in Outside and figured I'd search before starting some thread. Judging from the threads I saw, not sure if they had 'bikes' ready to go? Whatever.

Not sure what the point of the frame is though.

The point is that it's Buckminster Fully Awesome!
That, and water bottle cages are for chumps.

lol!

Thought the same thing on the cages, but on the website, they have a photos of the bike out and it has water bottles on them.

This one is from the "review" link in the Road section:

Here's the reviews they have so far:

Rider Reviews coming soon...

Early comments have primarily been based around the speed, stiffness and response. Many riders have called it the ultimate racing machine.

Here's one in action:

Just looks weird. Some how the "lattice" is supposed to make it lighter, stiffer, etc, etc, etc like every other bike write up.

I've seen that in mountain bike action. I think it is atrocious.

Don't even want to think about how tough it would be to clean that frame.

It's got to be extremely un aerodynamic; It's expensive; It's difficult to clean, and it's relatively heavy compared to full carbon frames that are as stiff.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

Its cool though. But don't like the traditional racing geometry. Whatever floats your boat - a lattice bike might be a chick magnet alright!

Riding in rain = Fail. Can't possibly be much lighter than a regular thin-walled Al frame.

I bet it's laterally stiff and vertically compliant though.

Yeah but from their website

"The Ascend Road Bike is an extremely stiff and lightweight, fast, and high performance road bike, weighing a mere 2.3 pounds. This high performance bike features an extremely stiff bottom bracket stronger than any other in its class."

I dont think their mountain bike frame would be all that light, after 1/2lb of mud gets caked inside the bottom bracket.

I have ridden a demo a few times and liked it. Both times were short, 5 miles, but the bike was stiff and fast. Hopefully I can try one out on some hills. Overall, I thought it was cool and it worked well.

The bike's probably fine to ride, but I'm betting that there are many other bikes for 6G's that would be just as good or better, eh?
