Randochap, I hope you recover well and quickly and are back on the bike as soon as you are able!

Wow this stuff is tough for me to read. Scary for sure. Your positive outlook will serve you well. Keep it and best of luck.
For those talking about insurance, let me clue you in; this is a seious case. Unless this young kid in a truck has high limits and secondary liability coverage there will not be enough.
That is what makes these cases all the more tough. Later.

Ouch, that makes my broken kneecap from last year seem like child's play. I hope that your recovery is quick and you let the PT gods do their work.

Thanks everyone. Can't tell you how much your encouragement helps.
Re comments on medical and insurance. Keep in mind that insurance here in BC is a provincial entity. Most everyone is covered under same corporation.
The medical devices and drugs I need in-home are covered. Tort claim comes later.
And all my emergency hospital care, operations, etc. were taken care of via Canadian public medical system (which costs a pittance, relative to for-profits).

Gosh Randochap - that's awful. Thank goodness you made it out alive. And from your posts, I know your positive attitude will help you get through the rehab. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hope you heal up well and can resume your normal self-administered cycling torture soon. I had a dimwit in a dually pickup miss me by roughly 2 inches this morning. That makes your thread an even more sobering read.

Best of luck to you and your family. It is always easier to look back than to look ahead. There will be hard days and there will be harder days. Get through the first with a positive attitude so you can tackle the others. Again, best of luck to you and your recovery.

best of luck with the recovery Randochap.
hopefully the guy who hit you understands the gravity of what he did and has learned a lesson. certainly anytime you can walk away from something like this it is good news, and it sounds like the prognosis is for the most part positive.
be sure to make your previous health and fitness level clear to the PT and your doctors and tell them your expectations to ride again.

Rando, very sorry to read about this but thanks for sharing and I hope your recovery proceeds as fast as possible. Glad that you are still a part of the cycling community, even if it is virtual cycling for a few months via BFs
And wow, this is a scary story, since it all happened from behind without the chance to be warned. I've been hit twice and saw both coming, but not early enough to dodge the cars.
Best of luck healing and keep that positive attitude going! You still have that ride you need to get back too!

A terrible story, but you seem to be taking a far more positive approach than that vast majority of other people would have. I hope you recover fully as soon as possible.
