Best/cheapest way to upgrade components
Go to bikes direct
buy: https://bikesdirect.com/products/windsor/knight9.htm
Replace tiagra parts on my caad9-6 with ultegra parts from the windsor.
Put tiagra parts on the windsor
Sell windsor for a few hundred less than bought.
I think it makes complete sense given that ultegra shifters alone are over 200 dollars

I put together a full set of new 6600 from ebay and sales for $480 including all shipping this spring. Now that 6700 is out, you should be able to find it even cheaper.

~$700 at pbk .. was cheaper before but the dollar has been dropping
otherwise you can piece it together on ebay:
Shifters:250
Crank + BB: 145
Brakes: 110
Front DR: 42
Rear DR: 70
Cassette: 61
Total: $678 for all New in Box components and about 3 mins of searching.

If you like SRAM, this sounds like a no brainer. Besides, the BD link has a triple. Ewww.

Yep, buy the cheap Rival or 6600 group and then just ebay all the Tiagra bits. You'll come out the same without dealing with the Windsor.

My roommate has been wanting a cheap bike so he can ride with me, and I've been wanting to upgrade myself, so this looks like it could be a good deal for me. Upgrade my Trek to Ultegra, and give him the Windsor with Tiagra.

While I haven't done any direct buisness with psimet, I respect him as a mechanic. psimet knows his stuff.

"In marketing, shills are often employed to assume the air of satisfied customers and give testimonials to the merits of a given product."
You have a link to psimet's site in your sig for God's sake. Certainly every post you make doesn't need to be a testimonial for psimet?! Everytime someone asks about purchasing pretty much anything, you recommend psimet. Is he the answer for every person's every need? Hopefully you have bought stuff from psimet before...
Psimet does a better job about being low key about his products and services than you do...your sig and constantly droned recommendation actually makes psimet less legitimate.

From Wikipedia: "A shill is an associate of a person selling goods or services or a political group, who pretends no association to the seller/group and assumes the air of an enthusiastic customer."
