Your single day distance record

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Your single day distance record

I just set a new personal record for distance in a single ride(72.2 miles which i know is nothing for a lot of you but everything hurts right now so im pretty proud of it) and i was wondering what kind of personal distance records some of you hosses and hossettes have accomplished, and what you may aspire to one day accomplish. dont include how long it took because though my ride today took ****ing forever, this thread is about distance, not speed.

so again, my personal distance record is 72.2 miles and eventually id like to do a century.

what are your distance accomplishments and goals?

124 miles. But even more demanding ride was a 114 mile ride with 12,000 ft of climbing made it feel like 125 miles!

My ex still has not returned my manhood. Thus, it would be pointless to measure it as of yet.

I have done as many as 287 miles solo but the record is over 500 miles. Normal rides have been up to 200K but average is 35 to 70 miles. Will be doing some longer after it cools off here in SW FL and you yankees are forced inside. Down side was Sunday was 55 miles with about a 20 ft elevation change.

In a 24-hour period of time ... 462.4 kms (287.3 miles).

That was on the UMCA 24-hour event.

There's an identical thread to this here, in the Long Distance forum: https://www.bikeforums.net/long-distance-competition-ultracycling-randonneuring-endurance-cycling/207127-longest-single-day-bike-ride.html

See my website: www.machka.net for distance accomplishments. As for goals ... where do you go after you've done a couple 24-hour events and four 1200K randonnees?? I've taken last year and this year as rest years for a variety of reasons, but hope to start building up again this summer. Spring is in the air, and I'm itching to get on the bicycle and start logging some distance again.

If you want to get into longer distances, go have a look at the Long Distance forum ... you might be inspired.

About 110 miles in 1974. Then did 40 more the next day. Never did it again.

Farthest in modern history for me (last 5 years) is 74 miles on a 90 degree day with 15-20mph heawinds all day on a flat route through cornfields with no shade. It was miserable.

Lately it's been 53 miles or so on rolling terrain every few weeks.

107 mi., wimpy I know. But, being a husband and dad of three kids (13, 9, 5) time is at a premium.

I do have a goal next year of a double century, club sponsored ride, 202 mi. I'd like to give it a try.
