Need some help with a frame size choice.

I am going to buy a new road bike and have some questions about frame size. I have been riding a 56cm for the past 2 years. I went to the competitive cyclist website and had someone help me take all my measurements several times. Here is what it spit out.

My measurements
Inseam 34 in
Trunk 25 in
Forearm 13 in
Arm 26 in
Thigh 24.25 in
Lower Leg 21.5 in
Sternal Notch 56.5 in
Total Height 69.5 in

The Competitive Fit
Seat tube range c-c 55.9-56.4 cm
Top Tube Length 53-53.4 cm
Stem Length 11.2-11.8 cm

The Eddy Fit
Seat tube range c-c 57.1-57.6 cm
Top Tube Length 53-53.4 cm
Stem Length 10.1-10.7 cm

Any thoughts on what frame size to buy for my next ride?
I was thinking a 54cm.

I don't have a LBS that is trained to fit a bike. The closest place is 2 hours away.

Long legs, and a shorter torso. I'd be looking at the 54. Check out this thread to give you an idea what others are riding

We have identical inseams and heights. I ended up on a 56 Tarmac as fitted by a guy at my LBS that went through the Specialized fitting school. In fact two different LBS's fit me on the 56.

According to him and others on the forums I made the correct choice with the 56 - if I had gone with a 54 there would have been a ton of seat post showing and a more radical difference between seat and handlebar height.

Edit: Heres a link to my thread asking for advice. Hope that helps.

inseam and height are not as important as reach. find a frame with the closest top tube measurement (looks to be a 54) and make it work.

seat tube and head tube are likely going to be slightly shorter than optimal. former not so important, but latter might be an issue; will have an over-aggressive saddle/handlebar drop (which will be hard to ride if you already have short arms) unless you put a ton of spacers on your fork steerer (potentially unsafe if you have a carbon steerer) or use a riser stem (ugly).

as someone with longer legs than arms/torso, i speak from experience (can be very frustrating). one of these days i may go custom frame/geo to get a truly dialed-in fit.

Should I go with the 54 cm or should I go with the 56cm and use a 90mm stem?

I ride a 56cm now and feel like I have to reach too far to get to the hoods and I don't have a lot of seat post out but I am riding a 2007 S-works Tricross on the road.
