Question about 2010 Allez and Allez Elite Compact
I have a question I'm hoping some of you may be able to help answer! I went to my LBS and was looking at purchasing the 2010 Allez Sport Double, but I left confused. Next semester I'll be transferring to a college that has a cycling club. The owner of my LBS said the Allez Sport wouldn't really cut it - as far as racing goes; he recommended upgrading to the Allez Elite Compact. I'm just curious if any of you think this is a fair statement? I'm in the process of looking at / test riding other bikes as well, tomorrow I'll be test riding a CAAD9 6 at another store.
Just hoping to get some opinions as far as the Double concerning racing and group rides. Thanks.

I have the 2010 Allez Sport, and, granted I do not do any "racing", it is not crippled. I don't have any troubles going with my morning cycling group, which rides about 30 mi every Tu/Th, and then we go about 45-60 on Saturday. Granted, the Elite has better components, namely Shimano 105s all over the place, whereas the Sport has the Sora/Tiagra combination. These better components may provide a better experience for you, as those are the components I am looking to upgrade mine to.

If you want to race you'll want the 105 components of the elite
