caad9
would like to save money but I can get a 09 caad 9 6 for 900, or 10 caad 9 6 for 1150. 250 dollar difference plus a few extra bucks for sales tax. That 09 is looking better to me after I typed it out. They also have a 9-7 for 800 and can save up for rival in the meantime. Talk some sense into me guys.

I just bought an 09 9-7 for $799 so I don't think I'm gonna be the one to tell you not to do it. It's only money!

I'd go for the 2009 model, unless you like the new paint jobs enough to pay extra. The difference between the 9-6 and 9-7 just appears to be Tiagra vs Sora shifters. If you are planning on replacing it all ASAP with rival anyways, may as well save that $100 and deal with the Sora shifters for awhile.

Go for the '09. I was looking for the black 9-7 but it was sold out. That looks sweet. I would get that and upgrade. Otherwise, my friend is picking up a 9-6 tomorrow for $850 plus tax, the white one. I think that is a good deal.
For me, I ended up getting a black GT GTR series 4 for $490 plus tax. I wanted to get a frame I really liked, and then upgrade components later anyway... saving up for Sram Rival groupset.

I'd seriously look at a '10 9-5:
- BB30 crank instead of a BB30-English Adapter and Tiagra Crank
- 10-speed 105 drivetrain as opposed to 9-speed (except the crank which is FSA Gossamer)
- Premium fork instead of Ultra, probably a 200-250g weight savings
If you're not upgrade prone I'd look at the '10 9-5. If you think you're going to do something like upgrade to Rival at a later date, do the 09' 9-6. The '10 9-6 is kinds stuck in the middle...and I don't know if the BB30 adapter they use to accommodate the Tiagra crank is removable later.

They are in Redwood City, CA. It's not posted on their website, but they had a post on Craigslist where I found it and told my friend. He likes it.
The GT GTR I bought is a lot heavier than I thought, shifters are pretty crappy (perhaps the builder didn't set it up well), and the tires are a lot heavier. I am comparing this to my friend's '09 caad9-6 and to my gf '10 Trek 1.2 .
I saw a groupset of SRAM Rival on craigslist today for $500... and was really tempted on buying it... but I'm just gonna ride and break-in my bike before I go off spending more money. Wheel's will probably be the first upgrade.

You should grab that if it's new and the 2009 parts, that's a great price.

I got the '09 9-6. I really don't like the Sora shifters. Tiagras are working fine and i think will last me quite a long time before I replace them. either way, the CAAD is a great bike. you cant go wrong with that, and the upgrades are endless.
Also, your price is awsome. I got my 09 back in june for $1150.

If you don't want to upgrade a bunch of parts get the 10 9-6, if you want to spend money to make a bunch of upgrades get the 09 9-7. I went bought a 09 9-7 and spent some money to get the exact bike that I wanted.

Even if you are planning on going to Rival, I would still get the 9-6. Selling the Tiagra group will net you more than the Sora group and you may enjoy it more while you still have it.
