setback and saddle height

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

setback and saddle height

Is there a formula for this relationship----I have increased my setback by 1cm,how much should I lower it to compensate for this( had tight hams after 60K ride today, but I like being further back)

Tx

center of saddle to BB should not change. roughly 3mm lower, but it's hit or miss with a change of shorts.

Not surprised by the tight hams, you lengthened their stretch. You also decreased the angle at your hip which if you're compensating by sitting more upright (by straightening your arms) you could run into other problems.

Lowering your saddle just tries to being back the angle and the distance from the BB to the seat. Getting more flexibility in your hamstrings will fix the tightness. Check how your hands and feet feel because you moved the CG back so you'd potentially have more weight on them. GL

Moving the saddle back reduces the weight on the hands and would do nothing to the weight or pressure on the feet. Pressure on the feet depends on how hard you choose to pedal, not where you're sitting.
