Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pop by the racing forum and dig through all of botto's race reports... or his ride reports from the various granfondos he's done... he's kinda got you on this one.

It's OK--there can only be one winner after all. Doesn't mean you didn't try.

I don't know, Greg--I think you'd take the generosity award. I never had the opportunity to take you up on it, but it was certainly appreciated.

I started this thread partly in response to the recent "What do women want" threads, pcad's mega-threads, erader's and howitz's nonsense during TDF, and an all-too typical cynical reply in the LD forum to a new poster asking about back-to-back centuries.

Like some of you, I turn to RC for entertainment, both the food-fights and pcad's non-stop musings. I agree that the Mechanics forum is the best for help, and nearly everyone there tries to be helpful. My thanks to everyone who keeps it going.

My intent was to give a "shout-out" to those who keep us coming back, the pcads, bottos, umds, ... And also to give pause to some others whose sole intent can only be to annoy the hell out of everyone. (Someone please tell me Richard Cranium is a troll. Not that trolls are excusable.) If I'm lucky, maybe one or more of those will reflect on what kind of poster they are.

So, y'all, keep it going. Give props where they're due. Oh, and as to racers on the forums, I'm clueless. I'm just an old kid riding his bike around. I'll let you guys resolve the Real Deal, I'm going riding. See 'ya.

I'm still bummed that I couldn't make it out for a group ride with him.

He doesn't need anyone to defend him, but the noobs posting about how big of a troll he is have probably never ridden their bike enough to actually understand why he gives the advice that he does.

I'd add you 'beer as Real Deal, Mr. Rainbow jersey.

blotto seems like a typical road weenie. Probably wears a size XS in everything, if you know what I mean.

You're wrong on this Doc. You're comparing men who've been on and coached world and olympic teams, podiumed in GPs and six days and even won a worlds - with a low testosterone roadie. Massive Fail on your part.

As far as contributions to the BF are concerned - you are...wait for it...incorrect. The two of you just got here. Botto's been contributing quality posts for years. Let's give the ego a rest, m-kay?
