Colnago Bikes: What is the big deal?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

its the club symbol, or clover or whatever you call it. thats what makes it cost so much. De Rosa uses hearts...it works.

Some people simply like them. A friend has two. One is his backup/loaner and the other is the backup's backup. Both have been ridden a lot and have scratches and wear. His current bike is a Cervelo. He's not wealthy but he rides a lot and he likes nice bikes.

They handle well, and are comfy. How's that for "specs"?

I'd get one, despite the fact that I think they usually have pretty gross paint jobs.

Apparently you have no experience with the older models of this car. Mercedes once upon a time made a damned fine automobile.

That bike represents their peak. What happened is CF became the material people wanted and they didn't know how to respond. Those diamond shaped stays with the hole in the middle is an example.

Very nice. What year is it?? I have a frame set that I will build some day. I have 3 Colnagos now but have had many and I always liked the way they handled. The fact that they look good too is a bonus.

Lamborghinis can be bought off the showroom floor; Ferraris cannot (new). Ferrari > Lamborghini

Would hit CF-7, so very hard. That said, there are a ton of $15k bikes out there I would hit like the fist of an angry god.

Take a look at the market for used Master Lights/MXL's. You will see that they are no more than Serottas or other bikes of that ilk. And they are arguably among the most beautiful frames out there.

It's simple, Colnagos ride as good as they look, not for everyone, true enough, that's ok with me.

I thought I had better pics. It's basically the red steel Master pictured above.

I confess I ride my Litespeed more but it is nice.

For those of us who rode in the 70s the question was frequently beyween Reynolds framed bikes from England and columbus framed bikes from Italy. For those who chose Italy Colnago was a preferred answer.

Car brand logos on bikes are lame. Doesn't matter if it's Ferrari or GMC. Ugh.
