Newbe Bike Building Question

Because of all the positive post regarding the Scattante Titanium Road Frame I decided to purchase one. The specs show the seat post as 31.6 mm. Are they referring to the inside or outside diameter of the tube. I don't own a set of calipers. Can someone tell me the correct size seat post to order and seat clamp. Thank

I also promise to remove the Scattante Labels and post pictures when completed.

31.6 is a common seat post size. If the specs say seat post they mean seat post, not seat tube, which is part of the frame.

Laching calipers, a large adjustable wrench and a scale will work as a crude caliper and so will a piece of paper wrapped around the a tube. The diameter is the length of the paper divided by 3.14.

It's NOT the OUTSIDE of the tube. The size of the post is called 31.6 which is common. The bike CO. states that size, the seat post CO.s do too. I've a feeling that you're about to over-anylize this. Just buy a 31.6. In your case a caliper is not required and a ruler is silly.

Mr Handy...

I didn't want to go over the OP's head with Pi.

You always make such bold statements.

3.14 was the most helpful statement, but all I could think was "Mmmmm pie."
