How Do I get into Amateur Racing?
I just started bicycling this winter after almost 15 years off the bike (I'm 27 years old) and my fitness level has improved by leaps and bounds.
I'm up to riding almost 200 miles a week (riding Monday - Fridays) on my fixed/single speed road bike (I just switched it back to a s.s. from fixed). Hopefully I can get an entry level race bike by this fall.
Anyway, I'd like to start training seriously for an amateur road race, not that I think I can win, but for the experience of it. I'd like to do this starting next Spring (2005) or so.
I looked into the 5BBBC and NYC Cycling club but all their group rides are on the weekends when I'm working so I mostly do my riding solo.
Anyone here have suggestions as to where I can look into getting more information? I guess I should find a day job eventually too as most races will be on weekends.
I live in NYC by the way.
