Loving the Fall

Anyone else absolutely loving this fall weather? 60 degrees, sunshine and changing leaves? Best time of the year to ride North Jersey/New York. Toss on the leg/arm warmers, get out early and by the time the sun is shining above, the weather is perfect enough to take them off and enjoy the breeze. Don't forget the Sat/Sun group rides that turn into a race!

great picture.

agree, the weather in this area is great for after work rides this time of year, though i need to bolt on the rear blinkie light for the end of the ride usually.

where are you at Nick?

where are you at Nick?

The land of Guidos on Friday nights, Frank Sinatra and the best "mutz" you'll ever taste.

60 would be warm compared to my last few rides. Any ride is better than the trainer.

aham23 10-02-09 01:28 PM

no. its been 60 degrees all freaking summer around here. later.

mattm 10-02-09 01:28 PM

No, I hate fall!

I'm still in denial that Summer is actually over. I'm trying to ignore the week of rain we have lined up... and still trying to rock shorts/arm warmers when every other cyclist I see out is wearing pants and a jacket.

stonecrd 10-02-09 01:35 PM

Love it, love winter more but it has not reached down here yet. Once the humidity falls below 60% life is good.

You are in Weston and you are complaining? Its nice and there are all kinds of places to ride. Humidity in the 90s with temps in the 80's and sunny..now you're talkin'

GirlAnachronism 10-02-09 03:02 PM

I'm enjoying it too, for now. Looking forward to a ride out to the Bear Mountain Oktoberfest on Sunday, should be a lovely fall day once this rain passes.

<homer simpson>Mmmm, beer</homer simpson>

leg warmers? I've ridden in 58 degrees here and I haven't had to use pants at all. The only thing I find is that my face is cold as heck and my quads burn and release a lot of heat when I get home. I love riding at night with the wind. During the day the grey is nice as well, I see alot clearer with grey skies than sunny blue skies for some reason.

NiMO189 10-02-09 03:16 PM

I was loving it, for about three days. Then it decided to start raining, and the temperature refuses to crack 50˚F. Not saying I won't ride, but I'd appreciate if one or the other factor would improve.

brian416 10-02-09 03:40 PM

Not a good fall so far, 40-50s and rain, I'm already riding on rollers

No, and it only gets worse.

Bah Humbug 10-02-09 06:56 PM

Oh good; I thought I was the only one here who hates cold. As soon as I have to layer, I'm unhappy. Tomorrow I will need full winter gloves. Also, the wind sucks.

Kurt Erlenbach 10-02-09 06:57 PM

Fall? what is this "fall" of which you speak?

UBUvelo 10-02-09 07:11 PM

i'm from mississippi...never got the cold weather i craved...really looking forward to riding in the cool to colder weather forthcoming...glad to be in SE PA and get all 4 seasons in pretty much equal portions!

hooray for autumn.:thumb:
hip hip hooray for winter!

OBXCycling.com 10-02-09 07:28 PM

I showed up this am (60 degrees) in my shorts and jersey....everyone else had on leg warmers, arm warmers, tights, jackets etc etc. I was one of the only ones not dripping buckets of sweat.

Ripnowell45 10-02-09 07:36 PM

Is this the NickDavid from TSSB? I love the fall too I have not been able to ride the past couple of days so I am definitely getting out this weekend. I love going out now and not sweating through all of my clothes.

FR4NCH1SE 10-02-09 08:48 PM

Finally someone with some balls, I am the same. The way I see it as you keep riding you generate enough heat to keep you nice and balanced, your face and nose are the only things that get ice cold, what I love the most when you are done your legs radiate heat like a oven, its funny.

Fatso's right about that one.

Kai Winters 10-02-09 09:14 PM

Today's ride weather was 46F, wind out of the W at 11mph...rain in the air.
Otherwise it was a great autumn ride...the air smelled of wet leaves and was nice and clean...well it is always nice and clean out here in the bush.
This is my favorite time of year for everything...but bitter sweet knowing winter is on its' way and winters up here are brutal.

Here is my favorite Haiku:
with a rustling sigh
fallen leaves pursue and pass
others on the ground

fitting eh?

mzeffex 10-02-09 09:26 PM

I love it. But not in the morning. Too cold, when I ride to school. And I wear jeans, obviously not great for cycling. Otherwise, it's great.

patentcad 10-02-09 09:28 PM

Eff the Fall.
