So you fell into $10,000... but there is a catch...

... you have to buy a bicycle...

what frame and gruppo would you get?

no plans for retirement or charity... you HAVE TO BUY A BIKE...

OK game on!!!

*** me, Waterford 22 made from 953 + Campy leads the list of contendors...

you?

timster 10-08-09 07:58 AM

I don't have 10,000 to spend on a bike, so no sense thinking about what I would buy if I did.

clausen 10-08-09 08:04 AM

It would not be enough for what I want. So I'll stick with what I have.

I'd probably by three bikes and a plenty of wheels.

mtclifford 10-08-09 08:10 AM

I'd buy 2 bikes. A madone and co-motion pangea co-pilot.

And my preference for the Trek is mainly because my LBS sells them and I love my LBS.

JacoKierkegaard 10-08-09 08:12 AM

Not so much on the specifics, but I can tell you that it involves the words "carbon," "Di2," and "Zipp."

Alaska Mike 10-08-09 08:15 AM

Mongoose Paver and a Denali.

+1 for cheating the system

go somewhere close to the Equator then..

The individuals who intend to buy more than one bike have the right idea. A cornucopia of wheelsets would be nice too.

Quel 10-08-09 08:40 AM

Man, 10k doesn't buy you as much as you'd expect it to :).

Custom MOOTS with S&S and suitcase
Di2

Indie Fab x 2

Test ride a ton of bikes then choose the best one for me. Deck it out with Full SRAM Red + SRM. three sets of wheels (one carbon clincher 46-55mm for general training, two sets of tubulars, one deep, one super light for climbing) And 5-7 new kits to ride in.

Oh if only I hadn't just lost my job.

Since I have an '09 CAAD9 setup essentially for racing (which I have yet to do :)) I would get:

- A set of Zipp 404s with PT ($3,000 psimet?)

- A '10 Synapse Carbon 3 exactly as configured ($3,000) for a more comfort ride:

- A '10 Slice 5 for TTs, the Zipps might find their way on this bike too :) ($2100):

Which should then leave me enough for a 705 and mounts for each bike and some new bibs and jerseys.

Stick a fork in me... :D
