Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

schwag hit list

Do you buy on impulse or do you plan how you will be wasting your hard earned? I plan and then spend ages looking at things online before taking the plunge. Funny thing is there is always something on the hit list whenever i say, "that's it. no more."

On my hit list

wheels
trainer

You don't buy schwag unless you're planning on giving it away. Until you do it's called promotions.

Just because pcad can't properly use American slang doesn't mean the rest of his lackeys can't at least try.

Back to the topic, I plan my purchases and research them carefully. Like many things in life, much of the enjoyment is in the hunt.

Impulse buying is kinda like ************, feels good at the time, but, really, what's the point?

Oh, and on the schwag list, a CX bike. Lots a research and lusting. No orgasms though.

I impulsively decide I need toys for the bikes, then spend weeks planning and fretting.

I've been cassette-shopping for five weeks now, and have yet to pull the trigger.

I have a list...trainer/rollers, winter gear, etc etc which is entirely dependent on which bike I sell. I just sold a CAAD9 that I bought only to sell and picked up an old RockHopper. Whatever parts of it I break will move onto the "to be aquired" list. Once I get it painted and presentable, it'll be for sale and I'll upgrade it to a better mtb.

i usually make a list in my mind. things i really need to bike comfortably (bibs, tights, jerseys, etc), thngs it would be nice to have (heart rate monitor, power meter, etc), and things for way, way down the road (carbon pinerrello, super six, etc.)

If there's something in the first two catagories, i'll look through my list of saved bike supply places, see who has what and at what price, then I'll check eBay and add a few of those items to my watch list. sometimes i buy, sometimes i just watch and see what the items sell for.

I have everything on the really need list, two or more of many items. the want list I have most of. the wish list items i like to just look at and fondle at the LBS.

great thing is that all the lists are dynamic and i keep adding and marking off things..........

I have a list but it never gets any smaller, as soon as 1 thing gets crossed off, another is added. I say that's it, no more after just about every purchase, doh!

Impulsively and as needed. This is my first fall/winter, and I'm finding myself more and more unprepared.

I'm on PBK and Amazon all the time looking at Cycling products.

I plan, agonize, ponder and search the Internet for the best deal, but when I check the LBS just to make sure they’re not running any huge sales on what I’m looking for (they never are), I think of all the poor, helpless lbs workers put on the street by evil websites and when they look up at me with their little puppy-dog LBS salesperson eyes, I just can’t help myself and overpay for the items anyway.
