Rationale for Buying a New Bike. Please help.

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

a bike will force me to lose weight....especially if it is expensive enough as I'll be forced to ride/sell it eventually.....though she understands the n+1 theory so long as n+1=2 or 3, but no more than 3.... :

But dude. Season 8 of 24 starts in 14 days. Can't watch that on your bike :-P

Seriously, good job on the bike purchase. Hopefully someday I'll stop maintaining my low-end Fuji so I can have an excuse to buy a better, newer, shinier and schwaggier bike.

Here's my rationale for a new bike. Carbon+Alloy Opera is still in mint condition after owning it for not long. F4:13 at shop with full chorus. Staff discount=cheap+campy eurus wheels=not so cheap but cheapish for level of bike I will have-trade in on "as new" opera=going to cost me 1k more then the opera did.

SO; N-D+W-Ti= Total for new bike. (N= New bike, D being discount, W being wheels, and Ti being trade in).

Heres the real rationale. I have $0 weekly expenses and I'm working full time with 0 responsibility. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Take one to work and store it there for lunch time rides, then claim you sold it.
