Ebay Purchase Opinion - Does this look New ?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I do not believe that much wear can occur in a few hundred miles. A few thousand miles sounds more realistic.

You now have at least a few options. You can try to return it. You can sell it over the winter and try your luck on another new/used purchase. Or you can enjoy this used item for many years to come.

It looks new to me. If it had a lot of miles on it the inside of the big ring would show a lot more wear from shifting. I would guess it has under 200 miles on it.

I guess my pictures don't convey all the dirt and wear marks. I'll suck it up and ride it. The seller is whining about being out of a job, and can credit me $10 when he has the money .... I'll let it slide. maybe leave neutral feedback ...

Seriously? Stop whining like a little b1tch, you bought a used crank on eBay and expected it to be in absolutely perfect condition. WOW.

I agree with you Homebrew. There are degrees of used condition and the seller indicated that this was used so little that the seller thinks it could be new. Clearly, the crankset was not shipped in a condition where anyone would think it is new. I would pay more for a used crankset that looked new when compared to a crankset that was used for a couple thousand miles. This crankset appears to be somewhere in between there...

Based on the pictures I saw in the OP, I would say the condition of the crankset is less "like new" and more "gently used."
