Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

definitely.

I'm more interested in the wheels and frame though. Those wheels look like full carbon, like Lightweights, but I'm guessing he hand made them.

That's seriously impressive. No way I'd be riding a wheel that I made out of carbon myself.

I don't know anything about art; I just know it drives you nuts when people call stuff "art". I was expecting a more sarcastic response, though.

Looks like they ditched the V-brakes for standard road calipers.

How appropriate for someone going on a magic carpet ride.

Did none of you pick up on the reference to Lightweight?

Hello!!!!!

Their original concepts were sloppy versions of what many lust after and cost mega bucks now.

You could be looking at the very same thing.

in all seriousness, that's probably what Di2 looked like when Shimano designers started to work on it...or even worse because it wasn't on a real bike, just a drivetrain in a lab.

Well, after all that effort, adding auto-trim can't be all that hard.

The hyper-critics are people whose fabrication skills start and end in the bathroom. While the bike and the electronics have a long way to go, it's pretty impressive. The time and effort that goes into something like that is not trivial. Good on him for taking such a leap.

It's not a bike I'd ever be likely to buy, but respect to the maker.

I preface this post with a disclaimer: I completely approve of this DIY project, as noted earlier...

Can't resist a Jack Handy paraphrase:
