in all seriousness, that's probably what Di2 looked like when Shimano designers started to work on it...or even worse because it wasn't on a real bike, just a drivetrain in a lab.

The hyper-critics are people whose fabrication skills start and end in the bathroom. While the bike and the electronics have a long way to go, it's pretty impressive. The time and effort that goes into something like that is not trivial. Good on him for taking such a leap.
