Who wears a livestrong wristband??

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

PLEASE, let the troll be, people. We all know he's an idiot, but flaming him will only get this thread locked or flushed down to P&R.

So let's see. I post my opinion on the subject and get called a pea brain. I further explain my thoughts on the matter, detailing why I don't wear a LS bracelet, and explicitly state that I don't expect anyone else to share my thoughts or feelings, and I get called an idiot and a troll. Interesting.

Are you this sensitive to all dissenting opinions?

The last time I wore the Lance wrist band. Some guy gave me a look like I was wearing for alterior motives. Like picking up women. So I don't see a point in wearing one when it doesn't do anything directly to help cancer other than buying the band.

Technically, we did lose a manager 10 + years in the family business to cancer. She didn't want to go through kemo again. And told me to eat right. Because she regreted her eating habits.

When I bought a different band for another cause. I got the same alterior motive response. I just don't want to give anyone a reason to be critical. I read in a book that it's best not to have any bumper stickers if you want a better chance of avoiding a ticket. Don't give anyone a reason to judge. Maybe, I'm looking to hard. But I just don't like the look I got.

Off and on

My wife and I rode together for years until the tumor. She has the same scars on her her head as LA. Book 1 absolutely helped get her through 2+ years of treatment. He gets my money, admiration and thanks. And every once in a while, I'll wear the yellow as a reminder and to show the colors.

I don't but I got a pink ribbon. My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 and I got a "Co Survivor" ribbon tattoo. Unfortunatly, it has spread to her bones so maybe I'll get a "F' Cancer" one on my other arm.
(laughter helps)

See you just proved my point. I didn't call you a pea brain, I said your brain was "pea sized". Please read before you speak. As far as you being called an "idiot and a troll," I wouldn't know about that, but if those are goals you're trying to achieve, I'd say your off to a good start. As far as the thread being locked, please don't! Just having a little fun with NEUMANN. He gives you so much to work with....

All of my bikes wear them. I have very thick wrists and even the large size fits like a rubber band and starts to cut off circulation. So I put them on all of my 3 bikes.

It seems pretty clear that either you "get" the importance of wearing a piece of yellow plastic or a pink ribbon, or you don't.

I don't. And never will.

Why? It's not going to save my grandfather. It's not going to honor him or my mother any more than my trying to live up to or beyond their standards would. It's not going to raise any more money for the cause than a direct donation or even a spin on a single charity ride would. And it's certainly not going to spur any memories of them that everyday life wouldn't, so it does nothing for me there. Beyond that it would serve little purpose for me beyond advertising that I may or may not support some cause, and I have no need or desire to do that either.

So like I said, no reason I can think of that I should or would wear one. I'm certainly not going to do it to make you feel better.

You may want to recall that I am not you, nor am I anyone else here on these forums, I am me. Ascribing your (or anyone else's) feelings, thoughts, or emotions to me is foolish. I wouldn't expect you to think and feel the way I do on all matters, you should return the favor in the future.
i dont like you

Cancer Survivor here. I wear it daily as a reminder of how lucky I am to be here.
Also, a great cause and LA is a remarkable human.
