Need some pointers for my first road bike

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need some pointers for my first road bike

So I just bought a road bike (coming in the mail). It's a '98/'99 (I think it's 99) Raleigh R700.

1) Upon arrival, what should I be checking for?

2) Does anybody have any good detailed videos of how to reassemble a bike of this caliber?

3) What should I know about the bike that a typical beginner probably doesn't know?

4) How much should this bike cost today? (it's used and appears to be in good condition, comes with triathalon handle bars, flat repair kit, wireless comp)

That's about it for now but please let me know if there's other things I should be aware of.

At my budget range, it was difficult for me to get my hands on a decent used bike that satisfies me. I found many local bikes that were not aesthetically pleasing at all, which is important to me when I ride my bike. However I have sized myself on a Raleigh frame before and I was recommended either a 54cm or 56cm
