Yes but as with every other brand theres bad and theres good. I mean shimano makes the components on my brothers walmart bike and it sucks but they also make Di2 which is some of the most advanced cycling technology ever. You have to be smart with your decision and look at the bike not the name unless your THAT GUY!!!

Believe it or not, the new Madones are some of the best made carbon frames on the market right now. The lay-up techniques and design is better than just about anything coming out of Asia's mass production lines. Not that Asia's plants are bad, they're not. It's just that the new Madone has alot of attention to detail in it's engineering.
The other CF frames on the market right now I'm quite fond of (as far as quality goes), is the BMC Pro's, Orbea, and Scott's.

Yes, Treks are good bikes. Just as good as the best of them. Maybe even better. Who knows. At some point you're just splitting hairs.
People don't like how much they cost at MSRP, but that's a different matter.

Serious answer: Trek makes fine bikes, just like any other big name brand (Specialized, Giant, etc.). I put 2000 miles on my 2.1 this summer, including a century and lots of 50+ mile rides. It's not as nice as a lot of other bikes, but not once was my bike the reason I couldn't keep up with someone.

On a serious note to actually answer the OP's questions...
all trek road bikes are "good" bikes. They are just as good as any other big name brand bike out there. That being said, the lower end treks are over priced compared to similar brands for the components you get. The Madone's are all good bikes. The higher end ones (made in the USA) are just as good as most other high end carbon frames.

OP...Trek make good bikes...no bike company survives that long, has such a large customer base, wins at least 10 grand tours if they dont make a quality bike.

I've broken 7, yes 7 Trek frames. Four in 2007 alone. Why I didn't stop at 3, I'll never know. In my book, "no" they are not good bikes. But maybe my luck is just that bad because I do see lots of happy people on them.
My current bike is a Specialized, it hasn't broken yet.

If'n you'd lose some of that excess weight you wouldn't keep breaking your bikes.

Trek and I finally parted ways when I did my final warranty replacement - they told me not to come back, and in fact offered me cash which I took. I loved those bikes, bought a new one each year that LA won the TdF starting in 2001. Kind of a collector's thing except I rode them. The 2005 bike lasted until 2007 and then it all went downhill with the next three.
I'd still say that they're good bikes but I wouldn't buy one even if I wasn't blacklisted. My luck sux I guess.

It came with a carbon seat mast, twin bottle mounts and dual wheels.
It's a better bike than I am a rider.
Everything from a mid range bike (105 equipped) on up from any of the major manufacturers will be a fine ride. There will be differences in geometry and different choices in componentry, but at any pricepoint you should have a number of bikes from different manufacturers that are all very competitive.
Any bikes good enough to be ridden in the tour are certainly good enough for us mere mortals that have to pay for our bicycles.
