Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Did you try to ride it? I bet it's really unstable. Looks like it has negative rake.

No, I've seen them like that more than once. On a side note, I get my work done by the national team's mechanic, and one winter I stopped by and his place was full of X-Mart bikes that he was assembling.

When I worked at a Super Target in college there was one guy who went to all the Target and Walmart stores in the valley building bikes, and he did a pretty damn good job, box to rideable bike in about 15 minutes, and he actually used grease and a torque-wrench.

Somehow I don't think companies still hire these people anymore, probably thought they were too slow and inefficient.

Your 'national team' mechanic must work for real real real real real real real real cheap.

Yes I let the manager know. He didn't seem too surprised.

What probably happened is the tires are directional and the "tech" noticed he put the front one on backwards. Solution: Turn the fork around. Problem solved.

this is one of the many reasons I'm trying to talk my mother-in-law out of buying a cheap $80.00 bike at Walmart that she wants. Well, I don' think she'll budge... and I'll end up having to disassemble and reassemble whatever bike she buys.

Well, it is Latvia, and building X-Mart bikes in the middle of winter is better than having no work at all.....

What's up with national team in quotes? It's not like he's a wrench for some phony national team....

after watching biketutor.com for hours on end, i like to donate my time by going into target, toys r us, and walmart and fix bikes for free. i true up wheels, adjust brakes, grease threads, tighten bolts to proper torque. these are the joys of internet and unemployment.

I know of a National Champion cyclist who's a Wal Mart manager and builds the bikes for another location for overtime.

That is not a pretty damn good job...not by a freakin' longshot.
