I need to sell my bike..
It's actually my husbands...it's a 58 cm 2010 Specialized Allez Sport..with the bike and the computer we paid $900..it only has around 80 original miles on it. (bike shop ordered it and put it together for us)
He bought it to ride with me, but he just doesn't enjoy it like I do...so instead of it sitting there collecting dust, I want to sell it and use that money for something that would actually get used..
so what is a realistic price that I could ask??

Whatever price you go for... I'll go up one more dollar!
...oh and used bike prices don't fetch nearly what you would hopefully expect, but you should be able to offload it for minimum 600...no more than 750

I so understand. My husband bought a new Trek to ride with me and has barely touched it. You are smart by allowing someone else to use it to ride!!

yes...all of our transaction history is in their computer...it hasn't even had it's first tune up yet...Gear and brake adjustments are no charge for as long as you own the bike..does that go away in ownership change?

it took me 9 years to convince my wife to start riding...she finally bought a road bike and she loves it.
I can't imagine not wanting to ride if my wife asked me.
Does he know you are selling it?...or is this one of those deals where you have kicked him out and selling his stuff before he comes back for it?

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
When selling a car, it helps your credibility if it has all the service records. If you can say the same about the bike, like "good shop relationship, tuneup policy will transfer to new owner", you'll only sweeten the deal.
If I were running the shop, I'd transfer it, since I know I'd get some extra business from the bike's new owner.

Um, in Charlotte you shouldn't have too much of a problem selling the bike locally. I'd put up signs in shops and try listing it on C-list. Plenty of cyclists around there and you wouldn't have to go through the hassle of internet bidding/selling + packaging it up.

I'm betting the lifetime tune up offer from the shop was likely limited to the original purchaser as well.
If you're a regular customer of the LBS', I'd ask them to agree to do at least the first tune up for your new purchaser, just as they would have for you.
They're not obligated to, but it would be smart business; keep you, an existing customer happy, and get a chance to make a new customer relationship with your purchaser.

I would ask the bike shop if they will consider taking it back on trade to a MTB. You won't get full price but it is an easy trnsaction. Not all shops will do so, but bat a few eyelashes and explain that is just the wrong bike and they may help fix your problem.

well the sad news is that most people dont care if you ridden 50miles or 500miles, as long as it looks new b/c ppl can never rly tell how much you RLY ridden it.
anyways, good luck with the sale, you might find someone whos generous

This is a bad time to sell a bike. Save it till May and you will get a better price. I would consider Ebay in the spring when there will be lots of bidders and you will make an extra $100 or more.
