Low profile 700c tires?

Hi,

I just ordered a set of CRUD roadracing fenders for some winter riding. They are great, but with minimal clearance (which is as advertised). The bike I'm putting them on has very little clearance, so I want to get a set of very low profile 23mm 700c tires. I think Michelin Pro's are low enough and I have a pair, but I'm looking more for a less expensive winter tire.

TIA

All 23c tires have the same height within manufacturing tolerances.

Road bike tires are generally round in profile. I know there is a slight variation in there, but it's not much. The only way to get a 23mm tire that has a lower profile than another 23mm tire is to buy a tire that is actually smaller than its stated size. For example, the Continental Ultra 2000 or Grand Prix are actually something like 21mm when they're labelled 23mm. But in that case, you're really just buying a 21mm tire.

Or, buy wheels with wider rims, like the Hed Ardennes. They're 23mm wide, vs. the normal 19mm width of most other rims. Got an extra $1000 to make those fenders work? ;)

I should just go all the way and buy a new bike to match my fenders. Not sure my wife will go along with that story, though.

If this works let me know exactly how you explained it....
