I have 3yrs and 15,000 miles on mine, hanger has not broken yet

mine is tweaked. i am going to replace it with an addict shortly.

You're a smart man. Never, ever, try more expensive kit unless you have already decided to buy it.

Does the carbon show through?

I have not had any problems with my hanger either, but I do have a breakaway pin in my deraillure just to be safe.

Everyone with an older CR1, or any bike with an integrated hanger, should do this. I didn't. In a standing sprint, my DA chain opened up on the side of one link, and wrapped around the cog. DA rear der destroyed, hanger destroyed. Thought about sending to Calfee for repair but in the end, got a new Addict R3 through the crash replacement policy. Glad I did. Scott dealer cut out bottom bracket of my '06 CR1 SL (proof of death for Scott) and I took the remains to play with. My local wrench did "destructive" testing on the remains. I loved the bike, but as we tore it apart, the construction was like paper mache. The Addict is a totally different build and carbon layup and has a replaceable hanger. Great bike.
