Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well what bike are you riding? Maybe you should be looking at getting a new bike too since you're looking at new wheels and gruppo; you don't want to buy all of this stuff and after building everything deciding the bike looks crappy in comparison...

Too much descending on magnesium wheels and they're likely to catch on fire. Forget about putting them out, it'll be a total loss.

Plus, the National Forest Service people will arrest you for being a menace to Smokey.

Besides, what's better than Ultregra hubs with Open Pros? Unless you're a pro of course...

It oxidizes violently in water. Obviously the alloy they use will not do this, but, pure Mg. I still wouldn't trust it for anything but a one-year race-day wheelset. If they were 1000g or something I would say it is worth it, but carbon wheels in the 1200-1300g range can be had from many places that will be less than 1600 bucks and more stable.

Well, it's CF with blue, white and black coloring, so the white rims with blue hubs would look awesome I'm thinking. But then again, the opinions of others are more important in cycling, so you're probably right.

Isn't stability more often an issue with the number of spokes? If that's so, then this AC mag wheelset with 28 spokes each should be stable enough for my 160 lb body. No? The AC website has a chart for matching your weight with the wheels. I'm well under their listed limit for these wheels.

just ordering a pedal force cg1 with SRAM red. with a regular wheelset, like Easton's EA90SL's, it's under $4000 and 14lb. btw, i'm not getting the easton wheelset.

Since May, I have lost 32 lbs. I guess that's 2 bikes and 8 grand.

Haha, hell at this point so many people are interested in the group buy it is going to be tough to even get in on. That honestly wasn't my point (although I wouldn' turn you away). If you were planning on spending 1600 bucks, I'm not even at that pricepoint - if you shop carefully and avoid the big-name markup on some items you can do better than those ACs AND better than any wheels I sell. Honestly, I'd contact Psimet and have him either buid you a PT carbon wheelset or have him go nuts and build a wheelset that is much more high end (maybe Zipp rims, very light hubs, high end spokes -etc) than he normally does. Now, if you are asking me if you should spend $1600 on a wheelset, my answer is NO - spend a lot less and get something 99% as good for much less - but if you're going to spend 1600, at least get the most for your money (something AC is not good at).

If you pay $4k for those wheels and Red you're getting ripped off.

That said, I want those wheels now. They're sexy.

Go with the ultralight tube.

If you want to save some real weight, throw the seat bag away. You've seen the threads here - a lot of experienced riders use jersey pockets for supplies. Next, throw away your bottle cages. Get a Camelbak. If it's better to carry your tube in your pockets, then logically water should also be carried on your body.

I think I just saved you your pound and a quarter for less than $50.

Your welcome.
