What kind of tights do you wear?
Either just padded tights to wear on their own or thighs you wear under bib shorts. I need a new pair. No need for extreme cold weather stuff. Rarely gets below 30 F here in Eugene.
Thanks, J |

I wear unpadded tights OVER my bibs. I got the cheapo ones without straps, just use some braces to hold them up. Job done.

when its not too cold i find leg warmers are the way to go.
|
At 30F, I wear bib knickers - sometimes the ones with a fleece inside. Toasty.

Specialized Thermal bib tights with pad are good down to about 30 or so....

Seems to me it was just barely over 10° a couple days last week in Eugene. How long do you stay out, and do you ride when temps are in the 30's and it's raining?
If you don't ride in the wet and don't stay out that long, you can probably get away just with leg warmers. If you're only going to get one pair of tights, a pair of medium weight ones with a little fleece on the inside is probably the ticket. If you ride in everything, neoprene tights are really handy when it's cold and wet or particularly cold. I'd get two pairs of tights at different weights if you can. |

seeing as yesterday, bibs w/leg warmers worked well enough for me in -2°C/28°F, i'd hope so.

Cool, thanks folks. We did have a cool snap here in Eugene last week - about a week with temps not above 20F. Everybody freaked out. It was fun.
|
I just bought a pair from Target. $18, well made, and they work great.
|
At 30F, I just wear running tights (Hind or Nike, for ex.) over bibs.
|
Pearli Slice therma fleece, without pad, over bib shorts.
Also have a pair of Pearli Amfibs for when it gets below 20f ish. |

I have PI Slice Thermafleece tights, performance leg warmers and regular bibs. If it is really cold I wear all of them. And remove some depending on temp.

Thanks, J Starter brand compression tights, $10 at Walmart, worn over my bib shorts. Not for extreme cold, but might meet your needs. I've used them as low as 40 degrees and was nice and comfy. |

Unpadded tights over my bike shorts. I found out that Nashbar had tights in tall sizes. I bought three pair. They're nothing special, but they go all the way down to my ankles without being baggy.
|
for winter riding, I use the same skins I use for skiing. Under Armor - Cold Gear. No pads, but the shorts I wear over them sometimes are padded, depending on ride, bike, and saddle.
|
I've been using unpadded tights over my bibs. Generally I get whatever is on sale at TJ Maxx. The best is a pair of Saucony running tights I got for $15. I have also tried compression tights under my bibs, and it was kind of uncomfortable.
|
Zoots compression tights. Then shorts over it.
|
Altura Night Vision padded bib-tights or if they're in the wash then I'll wear my Nike running tights under my padded bib-shorts. Talking ~30C here - any colder and we have ice so I leave the bike in the garage and put on the NBs!
