New bike!!!
So my financial bill came in for college and they raised dues so i have decided to spring for the 09 Allez for $615 brand new bike.
it has shimano sora shifters, not the best i know but they will work, and tiagra and sora everything else. Im sure it will be good for a few cat 5's and i play to upgrade it after i put about 3-5k miles on it. should line right up with my birthday in may. Then its 105's all the way. what do you guys think? oh btw dont have it yet, ill get it dec. 26th. day after christmas is when ill have my money |
sounds like a solid bike. dont let anyone get you down on the sora stuff, it works fine. 3 - 5 thousand miles before may is quite ambitious, good luck!

I had an Allez up until a few weeks ago. It is a great bike, despite the Sora shifters. Remember that it is the engine, then the bike, that matters :)

Great bike to start riding on, and you got it for a good price too. It's totally fine for racing. I think there are 5 Allez bikes on our collegiate cycling team, all of which will/have been raced.

Indeed. I forgot to mention, I recommend you upgrade the brake pads ASAP, with pads like KoolStops. The stock ones aren't really that great :(... and for me it got the braking surface on the rims dirty real fast :(
