Does cycling affect your driving?
It seems that my driving has changed as a result of biking. I've noticed that I now pay MUCH more attention to the road and the surrounding, but I've also become more aggressive.
Anybody else?
Anybody else?

I spend too much time checking out shoulders to determine if they would be good to ride on.

Yeah, now I like to do a lot of coasting down hills on my car, just like I do on the bike. Save energy..........

since most traffic lights wont detect a cyclist and in turn wont change signal, i always come to a light and if no car has passed in about 30 seconds i keep on going. i've almost done that a few times in the car, luckily i've caught myself quickly.

I once caught myself scooting forward and trying to get more aero as I crested a hill. In my car.

It sure made riding on a motorcycle interesting..... If you can survive CAT4/5 Crit you can survive in rush hour traffic on a motorcycle. lol

Sometimes I have to stop myself from pointing out rocks and debris on the side of the road, when driving.

I do this on certain hills. I might have done it even if I wasn't cycling. But riding does make me more aware of the hills.

Yep, it has. I really, really don't like being in cars at all. I generally cycle alone (though sometimes in groups) so I'm used to being solo when on/in a vehicle. When I'm forced to drive now, which is rare, it really bothers me having cars behind me. I wish in the U.S. we pulled the NZed move of pulling half onto the shoulder to let others pass who'd rather go faster. I don't think people would know what to make of it if I pulled right but kept on moving.
Now that I cycle far more than I drive I also realize:
a) how dangerous driving is
b) how careless and reckless most drivers are
c) how most car "accidents" are actually quite predictable - texting, drinking coffee, putting on make-up, one foot out the window, smoking, drunk, etc...it really isn't a mystery why you crashed your car...
d) how many cars there are in the world. I have a dream that I'll wake up one day and the car/bicycle ratio will be reversed.

After a week of MTB in Moab, I attempted to bunnyhop a pothole while driving my Dodge Colt.
Weight forward, then sprung back with my arms and legs compressing the springs in the car seat.
I realised that it wasn't going to work about halfway through the motion.
Amusing for my passenger.

i'm not gonna come down on this one way or another, but can't a tiny little car stop a whole bunch faster than a big ol' truck, even including taking a variable of reaction time into account?

^....A serious answer.... I'd guess my bike commuting cuts my driving by at least half. Unless we take the car on a long vacation- I usually ride my bike, more miles than I drive a car..

I'm only more aware when I see that bikers are around. Other times I don't think there is a big deviation in my driving.
