Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I just bought the cyclists training bible. Apparently I've been doing everything wrong. That is all.

Doing random rides. Not having a structured training plan.

Is this some kind of test to see if I actually read the book?

I hope you didn't need the book to learn that particular tidbit, but I imagine if and when I buy that book, it will tell me a lot as well.

Have you been racing? The book is great but I didn't understand it until I started training for racing next year. I work with a team and two coaches. The thing that he does suggest is getting the base miles first. I'm glad that I know enough to be stupid. This past year I wasn't smart enough to be stupid.

No test I was just curious what you found out was wrong, wondering if I should drop some cash for this book as well.
