Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Last Saturday I did a solo 62 mile ride with a couple of good climbs. Unlike riding in a group, solo rides tend to keep you pedaling all the time (downhills excepted). After 2 hours of almost constant pedaling, my feet felt a bit heavy ... not numb, sorta like lead weights. I remembered the picture below of George H. and thought I'd give it a try. It turned out to be a very welcome relief. It felt like the blood was rushing back into my legs. Give it a shot next time you're fatigued.

P.S. Check out George's Varicose veins. Props to Graham Watson for the photag.

I hope you're kidding and realize that this is not the kind of "vienage" one tries to achieve. Varicose veins can be serious.
