Have you seen this? It looks pretty neat. All your stuff in one tidy package. The only thing is you have to have an iPhone or a Touch. Not a problem for some of you.

Interesting... but I wouldn't want to use my phone as my bike computer. Not exactly made for that kind of abuse.

I wonder how this one works though. There is another one, SMHeartLink that works by creating a WiFi bridge for the ANT+ sensors, since Apple wouldn't play nice and let it use the hard-wired connection.

It would be better IMO if the mount was a sealed case.

Take a $200 iPod Touch and an app, and you should have a Garmin Edge killer. I have an Edge 305, but I can't see how there isn't a $50 app for the touch that could do the Edge functions like routes, ghost rider, training intervals, etc. $250 is a lot less than the color Edge 605/705.

I don't think the iPhone/iTouch doesn't really has the potential to be a Garmin Edge killer. The first thing that happens once you switch the GPS tracking on is that your battery gets drained in a matter of an hour or two. I've played around with the iPhone as a computer and have found it to be pretty inaccurate when tracking speed. The sensor just doesn't seem to be updating rapidly enough for it to be an effective speedometer. There is an option to increase the update rate at the cost of increased battery drain which is already at a really fast rate.

There is a lap timer and route mapping option that is in the unit. These are the only two functions I can see the iPhone being able to do relatively well.

You need to buy the Pedal Brain unit too. It's supposed to be $130 to $200 when it comes out. That is the receiver for all the ANT+ sensors.

I'd never mount my iPhone to a bike. Too fragile. It goes in a jersey pocket if I have to take it, but I have an old Razr that I usually take with me on rides.

Also battery drain ....
