$500 new carbon clincher Vuelta Corsa at BikeIsland.com?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

$500 new carbon clincher Vuelta Corsa at BikeIsland.com?

I've seen a lot of posts asking about low-cost quality 50ish mm height racing wheels, and a lot of references to Williams and Neuvations, which look/sound great.

I saw this wheelset on bikeisland.com - the Vuelta Corsa carbon 50mm. Clincher. For a shockingly low racing wheel price of $500 new (doesn't even seem to be on sale):

https://bikeisland.com/cgi-bin/BKTK_S...ls&ProdID=1719

Can any of you more knowledgable folks look at the specs and tell whether this wheel is going to be a dud over the long haul in longetivty or performance? ?It's a bit heavier than the Williams 58 or other offerings, so that may be a big minus. I was just curious as to how this wheelset could cost less than half of even the low cost Williams/Neuvations?

for that price i would just get the soul s4 deep v aluminum clinchers. They cost less and and are about a pound lighter. probably will take more abuse too.

Heavy. I've got basic Easton Ascent II wheels that weigh 1419g, which is more than a pound less than those wheels.

There is currently a group buy on carbon wheel that are much lighter than that and only slightly more expensive. Might be worth checking out.

Reynolds attack = $1400 on CC. Great wheels, but WAYYY more than a few hundred dollars. More like another thousand.

Soul 4.0 = $425. I agree - these look a lot better.

Stupid question: where can I find the group buy thread? I'm missing something obvious here, I know it...

EDIT: Nevermind, I HTFU and used the search.

Where do you guys find these crazy prices?

This is what a quick google shop search showed:

https://www.google.com/products?rlz=1...ed=0CBIQrQQwAA

Almost all over $2,000 for reynolds dv3k. I can understand LBS markup, but $900 is HALF of what the list prices are showing. Where do you come up with these prices?!
