Shaving

How many of you shave your legs? What are the benefits of this? Or is it purely aesthetics?

I ask because...

I am a very hairy fellow, and i've always wondered whether it would be a good idea to shave my legs. Is there anyone here that is very hairy and still shaves? The thing is that Ive got hair covering me from the top of my chest all the way down to my feet. if i shave my legs where would i stop? should i just shave my crotch while i am at it? Is this uncomfortable?

I shave while listening to an iPod during rides where I am wheel sucking without telling the grandmother riding in front of me.

No you shouldn't.

You should search "shave" or "shaving" and then spend the next month reading the 4,183 posts on the subject.

That does not seem cost effective.

I don't shave any more. I race (Cat 2 this year). Shaving sucks. It's fine for other people, but I hate shaving. If I didn't have to shave, I'd be fine w/out the hair.

I see no benefit at all. Maybe massage, but I don't get massages anyway. For crashes that need it, I just shave the open wound and scrub it.

It's just the culture and the look. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not enough motivation for me. I tried it again when I upgraded to Cat 2 and that lasted about 2 shaves before I couldn't deal with it any more.

I'll tell you what: my bike club, which is admittedly social and all inclusive, has a few riders that are top notch, including one that made it onto a team and was called best new rider in North Texas this year.

None of 'em shave.

Just sayin'.
