Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2009 Allez Comp Bike

Hi! I am new to riding and have found a great deal on a 2009 Allez Road bike. The problem is it is 60cm length by 61cm height. I am 5'10 and 170 do you believe I will be able to comfortably ride this bike? If not, what size should I be looking into?

Depends on how long your legs might be.

At 5'10, a 60 is way too big for you (unless you have really freaky proportions).

You should be looking at 58's I think.

I'm 6'4" and ride an XXL, which is what I think this is. I think it would be too big for you. From experience I can tell you that in my opinion there's nothing more vital when buying a bike than getting the right size frame. Go for something smaller. Also, people tend to focus on seat height/seat tube length. I think the reach to the bars is just as important, so top tube length really matters. You can tweak both by adjusting the seatpost height, saddle fore and aft setting, or changing stems, but you're far better off if you get the right frame.

I'm 5'10" and ride 56. You should maybe stop by your LBS for measurements.

Josh - I'm 6'2" and ride a 58 cm CAAD9. Ballpark size for you would be 56, but sizes aren't consistent across brands, so you'd have to check each bike.
