red shorts
just wondering if anyone has red shorts and what they are. i'm thinking about getting some, not sure which to get. :)

Can't point you in the right direction sorry.
This retro-grouch has been riding and racing long enough to remember when the only LEGAL color shorts to wear for races was black. (How's that for dating myself?) It was a bad idea to change. Last month I was in a pace line with some dude in white and red shorts. "Hey Beavis, get some friggin' black shorts on. Nobody wants to see your hairy ass crack in the paceline!" WTF is wrong with people? Its bad enough for the rest of the world to see us all in spandex, but see through spandex. Come on! Again, sorry I couldn't help with the red shorts. Wear what you like... -Z |

(In Before The Picture Of The Polish Cycling Team) As someone who started racing in the 80's, I'm with Dino on this one - sticking with black shorts is a good idea in general. |

It was going to appear sooner or later. :twitchy: I have a pair of gore OZON bib shorts where the main color is black, but there are two panels on the side of the thigh that are red and white. Maybe that'll work for you. |
Got me some DeMarchi bibs, like 'em a lot. On sale a few years back at Nashbar. I like 'em long in the inseam. The shorts.

Adding Escalon, CA to the list of places not to ride.

I think Hammer have red bib shorts. but unless it's a team kit blacks the best way to go and it's so much more of a sliming colour.
|
Timmyquest is back. Or maybe it's Bustaquad.

Just saying... |
Just don't understand the fuss. Gotta wear them because that is the club color. Red and yellow.. I see no difference.. They are a dark red and I don't think they are any more revealing than black.. maybe transparency has to do with thickness.?.... If so, our red shorts are thick enough to not be too revealing.

I've had this conversation with my wife before, and she agrees that a pattern would also hide the contours, so I don't know why they insist on keeping the crotch panels solid. The Carrera team never had this problem. |

Basic color theory. It has nothing to do with thickness, as long as the garment is skin tight. The lighter the color, the easier it is to see contours because it's shadows that make the variances noticeable. Of course, that means dark red isn't as bad as light red, but both aren't as concealing as black.

I have some very nice Castelli Free bibs that have a white middle panel... Totally opaque but still obscene due to the contour-effect mentioned above...

I have a pair of Red Etxe Ondo which I primarily wear under tights during the winter.
Etxe sew in a large terry cloth pad above the Chamois in the front which helps eliminate the whole contour issue. |
SRAM Red shorts?

I have some red Assos Mille bibs, and I'm quite happy with them. I don't care what anyone else thinks.

This rider rode with me for 3 days, on a fixed gear.
She has a very nice bike. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...0a5a2467_o.jpg |
