GT Force : how to tell which frame I am looking at

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

GT Force : how to tell which frame I am looking at

My brother is looking at getting a gt force frame off of craigslist. The owner of the frame doesn't seem to know too much about the frame, but I'd like to know if we would be getting a good deal or not. He believes the frame is aluminum. He also believes that the frame is possibly a 2006, but from what I have found searching, they stopped making the GT Force road frame in 1999. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Chad

I'm not going to do the research for you but this site is an excellent resource:
https://www.bikepedia.com/

I will say from what I know that it is aluminum. It is a GT. And I think they only recently stopped making them (more recently than 1999). It's probably worth it for $75 assuming it's still straight.

that's the thing though

I used bikepedia and the last year they have the gt force road bike listed is 1999
the 1999-1998 are made out of chromoly
the 1997-1994 are made out of aluminum and the retail was much higher on them

I'd like to know what year this frame is in particular if there is a way to find out.

I can't speak of the "force" line but I know that GT has used that basic frame setup well into the 2000's.

It is possible that it's a force, in which case you did your research, but it could also be possible that it is another GT bike.

This frame is from 2001 for instance
