Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This has to be a joke or a rip-off...darma kencana

The other day, on a whim, I googled Cervelo Giro d'Italia 100th anniversary frameset...to see if there were still a few around. What I came up with was a site called darmakencana.com where framesets normally selling for 2400.00 were going for 600.00!

Anyone else ever been to this site? Is it a weird Indonesian scheme to rip people off?

The site looks reasonable (other than say, prices, which I'm not familiar with anyway). I do notice that for example, Litespeed lists one dealer serving Indonesia, and it's not them. And Look Cycles doesn't list a dealer for Indonesia at all. Nor does Cervelo.

"If it's too good to be true...."

Wow I can get a 2009 Pinarello Prince with Di2 for only $3,250.00!

https://darmakencana.com

Here's the link if anyone wants to check it out. The address listed under "about us" actually pops up under Google Maps... still think it's odd, though.

Just checked a couple more. Bianchi and Specialized list dealers for Indonesia, and it's not this company.

If shipping isn't $1,500 I would be worried, if not I could use a new bike. Quick, someone tell Pcad that we found his latest schwag, a new Cervelo to buy.

Well shipping is free, looks like BD has competition.

Interesting, that Noah I've been eyeing for $750. And my order qualifies for free shipping.

That's a TON of work for a scam that I doubt anyone will actually fall for.

That's a really well-made website (better than many legit businesses). Hell, they even have a freaking newsletter, gift certificates, wish lists, etc.

If you compare the various information pages, the text appears identical to this website which is also in Indonesia.

My guess is that Rafiah is a legit shop and some enterprising scammer has duplicated their website and created some new graphics. Ironically the Darma site is actually nicer to look at.

I emailed Specialized about it.

Here is their reply:

Specialized has no plans to sell bicycles online.

We feel that the personal care and service that our Specialized dealers' offer when buying a bike cannot be matched by selling bikes over the Internet.

The chance are that ( https://darmakencana.com/ ) is not a legit web site, and I would not trust them.

Please feel free to contact me at the phone number and extension listed below if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Don
