Classic style Gloves
Can anyone suggest a pair of plain leather gloves?
I'm partial to the un-branded, classic look. I found the Giro LX gloves, which look pretty nice, but I'd like to see if there were any other options. (When I say un-branded, I just mean something that isn't garish.)

I know about Rapha, but their stuff is a little pricey. Is the price warranted?
For some reason, I like a lot of Castelli's designs, but haven't found anything I like in my size. I think it's the scorpion that attracts my attention. Ha.
Thanks

The Giro's are about as close as you will get.
They are good gloves and comfy so not a bad choice.

google crochet cycling glove.
Nashbar, bontrager, and a few others make them. Around $5 -$15. Un-garish, and 80's retro.

Yeah, I'm into the crochet look, but it's winter, and even though I live in San Diego, it gets pretty cold above 15-20 mph some days. So even if I go fingerless, I'd like for it to be leather.
I read some of the giro LX reviews down the page, and it seems like the dye rubs off and the stitching comes loose...

I liked the look of the glove you linked. Bummer about the reviews. Bummer about the $65 price tag.
I use a glove liner inside the crochet gloves when I need extra warmth. It takes me down into the 40's with a wool glove liner. In the 30's I use an insulated full glove, and in the twenties and below I use the insulated full glove with the wool glove liner. Spring and fall see the glove liner /crochet glove in the morning, just the crochet glove in the warmer afternoon. It makes for a versatile system. I bet the all leather gloves last longer than the crochet. But some of those crochet gloves were awefully inexpensive, kinda made up for getting a little tattered after one season.

the only thing about knog is that they have the gayest knuckle patches instead of holes...i don't want to be like emo punk boy with 'love' on one and 'hate' on the other.
i really like how the rest of it looks though...maybe i can rip off the patches.

Go to an Electra Bicycle dealer and ask if you can see the new 2010 gloves. I just checked the website and they're not up, but there are some cool crochet gloves, there are some rainbow ones, a Belgian, a French and I think a plain pair.

I had some leather gloves for a while, but they resulted in some rather unpleasant smells and, because they were leather, I wasn't about to throw them into the wash or garbage. I switched to crochet gloves (with thin full fingered gloves when it is chilly), and at ten euro a pair I just chuck them when they start to unravel or stink. Plus I can get them with the Dutch flag agross the knuckles, so bonus.
