I know this subject is asking for trouble but I'm really looking for honest options.

I found an awesome deal at my LBS on a New 06 Specialized Allez Comp Double. My exact size, exactly what I'm looking for in components, and below my price range. Keep in mind, I'm in the market for a new bike and had a price range of about 1000 to 1500. Out of all the bikes in my price range the closest to this one is the 2010 Allez Comp Compact.

So my question is, who thinks buying a new 4 year old bike is a big mistake when I could get a decent 2010 in my price range? Out of all the bikes in my price range the closest to this one is the 2010 Allez Comp Compact. Another thing to keep in mind is that I'm new to Road Bikes, I've always road Mountain Bikes.

1000.00 out the door. Tempting since it's a 1600 to 1700 dollar bike

You're probably gonna crash it anyway so take the saved money and get a really nice helmet.

Seriously ain't nothing wrong with that bike. Components parts still available and with the saved money you can by some nice accessories.

You have to buy what will make you happy and without reservation. I would go for the better components over model year.

its new? if so i think it would be a big mistake to pass it up. who cares what year it is, if you can save yourself a few bucks and pick up a great frame and components that have zero miles on them? if it hasnt been ridden it still counts as a new bike in my book.

Spend a little time in C&V and it will seem like cutting edge.
