First serious road bike... worth the price?
Hello all, I'm somewhat new to road bikes and am looking at buying my first modern (parts from within the last decade) road cycle. I'm looking at going light, reliable, and holding resale value. How does this bike sound to fit the bill? It's lightly used during the dry months, looks almost new except for 2 scratches on the top tube's paint you wouldn't notice unless you were really looking for them. I've rode the bike and it fits me very well, is quite light (~16 1/2 lbs) and I also have a good friend who has worked as a bike mechanic for around a decade for technical support. Parts are as follows:
Frame: Flyte Srs-2 aluminum frame w/ full carbon fork and rear triangle
Components: Full Dura Ace 7800
Seatpost: Easton EA70 carbon
Saddle: Fizik Airone wingflex
Stem: Bontrager Race lite
Wheels: Alex ALX270
At $1400, is this a good investment that will hold resale value fairly well over the next couple years?

sniped!
looks like a pretty good deal if it fits you. the seller is obviously just throwing on a cheapo wheelset to make the sale, but alex wheels really arent that bad.

As a bike, it's a generic frame with some good but used components. If it's your size, everything works and you like the color, it might be worth $1400 to you.
As an investment, it's not a collectible or special bike. Every time you ride it, it will wear a little and get a little older.

Until the next hot girl comes around? Or do you hang onto both and become a polygamist?

Well bikes are poor investments. They depricate at a good rate seeming monthly. Since the technology is always changing slightly, what is high tech today is a dinosaur a few years down the road. Also there is an high cost of upgrading or replacing components.
You should buy a bicycle based on does it fit, do you love the bike, and can you afford the bike plus the necessary gear? You have to be commited to cycle, so if you are not wanting to ride that bike, then you won't.
As for value of that bike, look at what it cost new and then depricate accordingly for it's age. In most cases sellers want too much for the bike. Good luck.

Sounds like it's worth $1,400 if:
1. You want a Fizik Arione saddle.
2. You want a Shimano drivetrain.
3. You're not set on a carbon frame.
4. It was actually lightly used, or very well maintained (and that could be true).
