Road Cycling ôIt is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.ö -- Ernest Hemingway

I personally would not pay 2400 bucks for an aluminum bike with apex.

Agree, they got the price lower putting apex in there. The best deals are in CC because they have more combinations, the same bike with campagnolo athena 11 for 2700 is not bad at all.

I agree, check out CC for just about the same amount of scratch of your build above, you could do a build with Rival instead of Apex. Do you want the Apex for the extended gearing, or for the pricepoint?

I'd rather get the one I posted earlier for 1800 sell the crank and rear derailleur since you want the compact and mid cage and buy those parts for what you sell the stock parts for.

I've only had it built up for about a month but so far I really like it. My other ride is a Jamis Xenith SL and the B-Mac is definitely smoother out on the road. The handling of the Jamis can get really twitchy on fast descents whereas the BMC seems to have smoother handling. As it stands now, it's right around 15pds.

Much much nicer! The front wheel balances it all out. Our SLR01s are a cool looking couple of rides.

Hope it's connecting with you more.

Yes, it is actually connecting better. I'm starting to figure out it's not really a masher, though I still would like to try it. The change in the handlebars makes it much better.

And yes, we're the kool kids.

It's like Christmas in summer!!! When was the last time all of your packages showed up on the same day?

Here's my "before". Give me a few days and you'll get the "after"

So I hit the White Mountains today and did Pinkham Notch up to Glen House with the SLR01. Round trip about 40 miles and a couple of 8% grade climbs. Long ones, but I'm used to it because I've done it many times.

This time however, the SLR01 preformed awesomely! It took me just about 2 hours to complete the trip. With the gusts of wind, it did throw me around a bit so I had to slow down in a few sections. The bike definitely responds better when I'm standing up climbing. Climbing in some sections actually felt really effortless and before I knew it, I was at the base of Mt. Washington. Temperatures ranged from 68F and the start to 55F at Glen House, so yeah, it was a bit chilly at the top of my route.

All in all, the SLR01 didn't disappoint. I'll just have to choose a less windy day another time to really get the perfect ride.
