Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No, I think you may be on to something there. More aero that way :-)

What size is your frame, and where's the seatpost?

I know that place! That near UC Cyclery in La Jolla. I stop by there ever Saturday from Carlsbad to eat at Pei Wei for lunch during my rides.

Yup, rode there from Escondido, did a 35mi ride, then rode back. Was a long day.

50cm. Is it just me, or is the sizing number that manufacturers quote getting smaller? I can remember when LBS would try and sell me 56cm bikes.

Seatpost in place now.

Looking good. I know what you mean about the sizing. I used to always be on 54 Cannondales, but the replacement frame they sent for my broken TeamMachine is a 47. I balked a little but because the sizing is different between the older SLT01 and the RM01 I went with the 47 and a longer stem (can probably go another 10 mm yet). I have always told myself that I am not that short, but now I may need to rethink that I am really enjoying the RM01. It is as quick as the SLT01 and feels much lighter. I'll throw some better pics of mine up this afternoon.

What setback seatpost did that come with? I understand that 6mm, 15mm and 30mm are available. Mine came with the 6mm and I don't think it's going to be enough with the 73.5 STA.

I did not realize that there were other options when it came to the seatpost. Where did you happen to see this?

A rep from BMC USA posts over on RBR:https://forums.roadbikereview.com/bmc...ck-257125.html

Your bike looks really good, BTW. I guess that's the standard build, or did you build it up yourself? I'll be doing a Shimano DA build on mine. Nothing against Red, I just had the DA parts and wheels already.

I cant argue with that too

Actually I'm waiting for a new road racer, have been like a month+ . The seatpost design was changed a tiny bit in the carbon models from what I know, the wedge is different, probably the clear coat is better too. Darn bikes look sick, lets see what they do for 2012 tho.

I rode with a guy last weekend who had the "old" aluminum model. We were comparing and the seat post appeared to be the same, but I'm sure it had it's subtle differences. It did use the same camber locking mechanism.

The wedge is different, the one in the carbon frame is like rugged from what I know. The aluminum version one is smooth and polished. I wont know untill i get the frame here tho.

Thanks, and thanks for the link. No,although it does look like the standard build. I received the frame as a replacement for my 2009 SLT01 which developed a crack in the seat tube. All the parts are off that except for the crank, stem and handlebars. I have to figure out exactly where I want to cut the stem (right now it's 20 mm taller than what it was on the SLT), and then it should be just right. Apart from the Psimet wheels I do all my own bike stuff now (lesson learned from the SLT01).

I am strongly debating picking up a 2011 Roadracer SL-01 and after seeing this thread I'm about ready to march on over to an LBS and get one. The one thing that is really hard to find is an overall weight for the '11 model with Ultegra group. This is the only site I could find and it puts it at ~16.9lbs w/o pedals.

For those of you that have one, does that seem right? Have you weighed yours?

Thanks!

CC and BMC warrantied my 09 SL01 and replaced it with this 2011 SL02 frame. I'm pretty happy with the upgrade!

Mine as seen in the picture, with heavy selle smp saddle, look keo sprint pedals and 1600 gram wheels is 17.1lbs in a size 57. The bike is full Rival instead of Ultegra but I think the two groups are similar in weight and from what I've read, the sl01 and sl02 frames are the same. If you remove 250 grams for the pedals, the bike would weigh in at ~16.5 lbs

Yaniel, rig looks excellent!! What are your thoughts on this frame vs. the 09?

Mine is a warrantied '09 as well. Riveted FD mount cracked off the seat tube.

As pictured w/ Specialized Carbon Rib Cages and Ti cage bolts included came in at 15.60 lbs. in the 54cm size.
