Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Somebody tell me to HTFU

I've been sick with a cough for about a week and haven't gone riding in a while, and today is the first true sunny day in a while (why anyone would want to be a cyclist in Portland is beyond me). I really want to ride, but I'm afraid I might get sicker... I might not get another good day to ride for a while....

I think you should quit whining, get your ass on the seat and head out for some exercise. Might actually do you some good.

That is all.

There's 2 feet of snow on the ground from this weekend. We are getting another foot starting tomorrow. HFTU for all of us that can't.

I too have had a nasty hacking cough from a sinus infection that migrated south. My trainer rides and seemingly endless snow shoveling sessions have contributed to recovery from recent illness. Riding will increase your metabolic rate and, potentially, help loosen all that phlegm. You'll feel better when you're done. That, or you'll exacerbate your illness and, shortly thereafter, take a dirt nap. Get out, ride and, if you survive, report back to us.

Well I did go out, for half an hour, 7.2 miles. Half of it was a hill. I'm glad I did, but I wish I was feeling better and enjoyed it more....
