Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Question for those who ride Selle Italia SLK Gelflow saddle

I am considering getting the new SLK GelFlow saddle, and I have a question about it. I was looking at it in the store the other day, and I noticed there is stitching along the top of the saddle, which wraps around near the side of it. I'm concerned that the stitching will shred my shorts from the constant rubbing as my legs turn the pedals. In fact, I've changed saddles before simply because they started wearing out and putting holes in my shorts (I wear PI shorts, which are a good brand).

Anyone have any issues with this? How does the new GelFlow version feel? I really like my old SLK, but it was the older version...not gelflow.

I had no problem with the stitching on my shorts or bibs. It is a nice saddle....a bit heavy...but nice.

I have both on different bikes. I like the gel-flow version a smidge better, but they're both good.

OK thanks.

Had an SLR but just doesn't feel comfortable to ME, so I took it back. I'll pay the price in a few grams to save my Precious...

Alright, different saddle, but maybe someone will know...

I have a Selle Italia SLR and I like it. Do they make the SLR with a cutout in the "standard" model? I know they have it in the Gel Flow and the Carbonio. I'd like to try out an SLR with a cutout, but don't necessarily want the Gel Flow, nor do I want to pay the extra $70 or so for the Carbonio.

Then again, I should probably just get another old Flite and be done with it...

I have SLK's on both of my bikes. The steel Pinarello has the old version (non-gel flow) that does not have the stitching, and the new Paris has the new version. I haven't put very many miles on the new one yet (it's only a few weeks old) but I can't say that I notice much difference.
