Today I did a three mile loop!

My loop began at The Point Loma Nazarene College. I just live a couple blocks from there.

As soon as you enter the campus, there’s a spectacular view of the ocean.

And a statute of Pcad imparting wheel building advice to RyanF.

I cruised past the out door amphitheater.
.

Then I began my descent. (Note slacker walking his bike up hill).

These poor kids have such a terrible view from their dormitory.

Then through the canyon.
.
http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/2239/img3189.jpg
To the final descent.

Heading north along the cliffs.

To the final ascent.

Last look over the shoulder at the hill I just climbed.

Home sweet home.

Oh god, you guys have rideable streets and walkways where you live? I haven't seen those in weeks. [/snow rant]

1-Thank you! Those pictures bring some hope (of the better days to come), in the middle of a gloomy winter day in the North.
2-How many laps?
3-Cool sculpture at your home.

Nice pictures! Thanks for sharing. I need to get out there again soon!

Dick Rhee 02-14-10 07:16 PM

That campus is ridiculous! Holy freaking money.

Terex 02-14-10 07:30 PM

Great pics! Reminds me of Pepperdine when I took my kid there for a college visit. I rode in a dark, sweaty spin class today. No pics.

My parents gave me the bicycle sculpture thing a few years ago for my birthday.
And only one lap. I actually wasn't on my bike. This was more of a walkumentary.

Meh, that doesn't hold a candle to my 4 miles of (34F) back and forth I did yesterday at the office park.

/sarcasm.

Speaking of scenery, here I am passing the Hyperion water treatment plant in El Segundo yesterday.

Nice pics!! We rode up to Carlsbad and back.

I want to go to college there. That is a pretty sweet campus. Beats the hell out of my school, who recently spent close to 1 million dollars on side walks the don't match other sidewalks and a big jumbotron sign that constantly breaks down. It is Arkansas after all, you can't really expect them to love the natural world or anything like that. Our Official build policy is: if it is a living thing, it needs to be covered in blacktop.

Dang, I stop riding out there and all the sand on the path disappears.

Two or three years ago, about this time of year that trail had to be at least half-covered with beach sand.

"They" did a good job of cleaning the path.

Speaking of sand, I had to do a thorough cleaning after the ride because of the salty fine grit that covers everything after a beach cruise.

Today Simplify and I did a 47-mile loop with 4000+ feet of climbing. It was 81 degrees and sunshine. Here's some photos.

Japatul Road. You can see two more of about a dozen climbs in the distance.

My first time out on the Great Western Loop! It seemed so hot, actually may have been warmer than 81; the climbs were tough. And tonight, sunburn! What a great day. :)

Nachoman 02-15-10 10:23 PM

Very nice, guys.

I used to ride that all the time in the 1980s.

sqharaway 02-15-10 11:41 PM

San Diego is so pretty! I walked through that campus onetime as well. My friend remarked she honestly thought about closeting her atheism for 4 years, and going there--it's simply that gorgeous!

YOJiMBO20 02-16-10 12:01 AM

I would have loved to go on a ride today. Unfortunately, San Diego State doesn't believe in federal holidays and I had to go to class today.

diverguy 02-16-10 04:58 AM

Two beautiful rides. Thanks for the photos.
