how many miles do you ride a day?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

im sure this has been asked a bunch of times in the past but i wanted to know. i do about 15-25miles a day depending on how much time and the condition. is this average for a roadbike or is it light or heavy. i just want to get an average.

I ride on Wed. and Sunday......I do 60 miles on Wed. and 50 on Sunday. I would like to ride every day, but my job hours won't allow it.

20 mile one-way commute - 4 legs per week. Weekend rides between 30 and 60 miles. 4 organized centuries. 1 double century. Total miles to date for '04 - about 3500.

Rather than miles, I'm going by time in the saddle... right now I do 75 minutes a day, 5 days a week, with a 90 minute ride on the sixth day... those will increase until I'm doing 90 minutes a day and 2.5-3 hours for my lsd.

g'day,

Hmmm.....you won't get a definative average, but, as at last night, I've done 5625 miles for this calender year...If i divide that by the days gone so far this year (230) I get 24.46 miles per day...s'pose thats my average....hmmm, must be spending to much time talkin' to the wife rather than ridin'...hafta remedy that!,

cheers,

Hitchy

Being temporarily unemployed I have a little more time on my hands than most. I ride at least 6 days a week and average 35 miles a ride with 60+ mile rides once a week or whenever I feel like it. For the last couple weeks I've had to guess my mileage because my computer is in Phoenix on the side of the road somewhere

15-60 miles a day. The length of my ride is entirely dependent on how much time I have. I intern in the morning and work at night, so my free time (of which I have very little), is devoted to riding, sleeping and eating.

i work 5 days a week, either 8a-4p or 1p-10p.

on the morning work days, i can ride about 20 miles in the evening. On the
night work days, i can only fit in about 10 or 15 miles as I have other errands and netflix rentals to tend to =)

On my days off I try to get at least 30 miles in, since im new to road biking in still working on building up to higher distances in shorter timespans

I commute daily 4 miles each way which gives me 8-16 miles, depends on whether I ride home for lunch or eat at work.

I have been averaging around 300 Miles a week as of late. I do commute daily 30M RT & usually stretch that to around 50 Miles on days with nice weather. I try & do one longer ride on the weekend, usually 75 Miles or so. I really TRY to take a rest day during the week, but I usually wait until the rain tells me to....

I'm getting ready for a cycling vacation in the Eastern Sierra so I'm riding 6 days a week (and feeling strong).
Twice a week I get at least 70 and 80 miles with medium hills.
Twice a week at least 45 miles with big hills.
Once a week 30 miles flat.
So around 250 to 270 miles a week.

On good weeks (defined as weeks where I don't do business travel), I can steal away for about 40 miles per day during the weekdays and longer 60+ miles rides during the weekends. However those weeks can sometimes be few and far between as evidenced by the fact that I just came back from three weeks without any saddle time at all (5 back-to-back weeks of almost constant travel). Also, I tend to slack during the winters. Last winter I think I got in a total of 300 miles over the course of 3 months. I would have to say that I'm averaging more like 180-200 miles per week this year when everything is amortised.

Can't depend on each day being equal in terms of available time...My goal is at least 150 miles a week...Usually get in 4 bike days...Never more than 5..Each week I get in a long ride of at least 60 miles. And one day a commute to work which is 54 miles. During the summer months on a good month, I might have a 800 mile month.
IF you do the math, guess my daily average for the year is about 25 miles/day.

Same here only my situation doesn't seem to be temporary.
Depending on my mood (happy, depressed, bored), the weather, and time, I ride 5-6 days a week and do 25-40 miles each day.

Weekdays (almost everyday) 30-35 miles each day, and then 65-80 miles on weekends. Have about 6200 miles this calendar year and shooting for 7500.
Some people ask if I have a job.....I just tell them its in the garage waiting for me.

Since about March I have done between 60 to 200 miles a week, with most weeks in the 120 mile range.

For the next couple weeks I'm trying to do at least 25-30 miles a day at a touring pace, with 40-80 mile rides on weekends. I'm trying to prepare for a week-long tour where I will probable do about 70 miles a day with touring load (tent, bag, food, water, clothes, tools, etc.)

A ~20 mile commute, both ways. About 40 miles a day Monday-Friday, usually around 40 - 45 each weekday.

I usually ride every other day especially with my big long rides. Usually I bike about 50-60 miles on those days, if not I go by time. I was out the other day for a good 5-7 hours just biking where the road took me.

christ, i need to ride more...

i get like, 6 miles a day with my commute, and i'm lucky to get 35 on the weekends, but when i do get out on weekends, i try to do the hilliest routes possible. last sunday i did 35 miles, with 4,482ft of total elevation gain. calcycling.org terms it as a "moderate" ride.

i work 11am-7pm, at a bike shop, so i'm usually pretty drained by the time i get home, and it's getting dark earlier lately...i've contemplated heading out to get some morning miles in, but i'm worried that i'll end up not having enough energy to get through the day without ringing one of my co-workers' necks. some days, it takes a lot of effort to not do that...
